Two Hearts

During bath time one evening, my five year old daughter was being her usual self, having a blast in her toy filled bubble bath. I was about ready to take her out when she said something so precious that it made me tear up. It was so beautiful that I had to share. Here is how the conversation went:

“My daughter: Mommy, I love you a lot because you have two hearts!
Me: Awww, thank you honey. That’s so sweet! I love you too. What do you mean by ‘two hearts’?
My daughter: You have one heart here and then you have another heart here [pointing to her chest]; so you have more love.
Me: 😭💗”

In her own words, my little girl was trying to tell me that I gave her a lot of love, more than one heart could contain. And that made me so emotional because it made me realize that I really was giving her my all and beyond. And she knew it, even at five years of age. 

There’s nothing in the world more important than the love we give because the more we love, the more our heart grows. And soon enough, all that love cannot be contained in just one heart. So we grow another. 

And when you have two hearts instead of one, you have so much extra love to give that you never run out of it.
