It has been a long journey of isolation, grief and soul searching for a lot of people on the planet since the pandemic started. And finding the will to celebrate life’s precious moments, when we feel there is little to celebrate, seems sometimes impossible. What once gave us joy and hope has now become another day of “making it through”.
But I want to challenge us to hold on to these special moments and rejoice in the little things and simple pleasures of life as a way of filling up our hope tank.
Today, our little girl went on an egg hunt in our backyard, and watching her retrieve those hidden treasures with such pride and excitement just filled my heart with utter happiness.
And it got me thinking. Maybe the secret to finding happiness is to have a child’s outlook on life. To find excitement in the ordinary, like making pancakes on a Sunday, and joy in the mess, like jumping in muddy puddles on a rainy day.
So on this pandemic Easter, I wish you a day filled with little things and special moments that make your heart happy. And if you’re so inclined, find a muddy puddle and go for it!
